Fibroblast: A Non-Surgical Skin-Tightening Solution

Woman receiving fibroblast treatment on upper lip
Droopy eyelids, crow’s feet around the eyes, frown lines around the mouth, age spots—is that all you’re seeing when you look in the mirror? While these changes in your skin are a natural part of aging, they shouldn’t detract from who you are. They shouldn’t hide the beautiful, joyful person that you are, and you shouldn’t feel the urge to hide your face because of them. But what can you do about them? Is surgery the only option? We offer a non-surgical solution to all these problems: Fibroblast. Keep reading to learn more about this skin-tightening treatment.

How Does It Work?

Fibroblast involves no cutting or stitching. Instead, we use a pen-like device that transmits an electrical signal to the upper layers of the skin, while transmitting heat to the lower dermal layers. The pen’s plasma tip doesn’t actually touch your skin, but releases its targeted current just above it. The current creates tiny holes, known as micro-injuries, in the layers of your skin.

These micro-injuries encourage tissue regeneration, stimulate the production of collagen in your skin, and cause tissue contraction to tighten and smooth those imperfections you see. This treatment can also visually eliminate excess skin in areas such as your neck or around your eyes. Through the use of Fibroblast, the skin cells pull closer together, essentially shrinking the skin without any surgery.

By encouraging your skin to naturally tighten and produce more collagen on its own, we can give you a smoother, more youthful appearance that also looks and feels more natural than other treatment options.

What Can It Treat?

Fibroblast therapy can improve overall skin texture while offering mild to moderate skin-tightening effects. It is frequently used to treat the following conditions:

·        Upper lip wrinkles

·        Smile/frown lines

·        Brow/forehead creases

·        Sagging skin on the neck

·        Droopy eyelids

·        Bags under the eyes

·        Crow’s feet wrinkles

·        Age spots

·        Acne scars

If you look in the mirror and feel like you’re only seeing these imperfections, Fibroblast treatments can help to reduce their appearance, so you can see the beautiful person that lies beneath them.

What’s the Treatment Like?

One round of Fibroblast treatment only takes about 30 to 60 minutes to perform. We’ll begin by cleansing the skin and applying a numbing cream to the areas we’re going to treat; we may wait up to 30 minutes for the numbing to completely take effect. We’ll then treat the designated areas with the plasma pen, which will create small, scab-like spots on the skin. When finished, we’ll remove the numbing cream and apply a cooling gel to minimize any tingling or burning sensations.

What Is Recovery Like?

Recovering from a Fibroblast treatment is simple and easy, though you may want to take it easy for a few days until the redness and scab-like appearance diminish. Immediately after the treatment is finished, you may have some burning in the area or a feeling of tenderness in the skin. This typically diminishes within 24 hours, and you can take an anti-inflammatory medication or apply aloe vera to treat it. You can also apply cold compresses to the treated area to reduce swelling if desired. If you’re getting treatments around the eyes, swelling may impact your vision.

Crusting will develop on the treated areas as they heal, but typically flake off within a few days. It’s extremely important that you do not pick or scratch at these crusts, as this can lead to scarring or infection. Cleanse your face gently and dab dry with a clean cloth, but don’t rub or scrub.

However, even with swelling and scabbing, you are free to go about most of your normal activities if you wish. The redness and the crusts will diminish and flake away as the skin heals, revealing tighter, smoother skin beneath.

You should avoid moisturizing creams for 5 to 10 days, and apply a sunscreen of SPF 50 or higher on the treated area every time you go outside for at least 30 days following treatment. Avoid athletic activity, swimming, or sitting in a sauna until the crusts have all fallen off.

The time for treatment and recovery period for a Fibroblast treatment is far simpler and easier than surgical solutions, and it can offer remarkably similar results. If you want smoother, more youthful skin without surgery, stitches, excessive downtime, and the chance of scarring, Fibroblast therapy may be exactly what you need.
